If we discover intelligent life outside earth. How will Christians explain "God created man in his image"?
Will the Jehovah Witness send white shirted,black tied missionaries in a spaceship to this planet to convert them .
Religions have come across worse issues many times before.
We now know that the Earth revolves around the Sun, yet Judaism and Christianity survive. Joseph Smith has been shown to be a scam artist with no real knowledge of Egyptian heiroglyphics, yet there are still Mormons. Most religions can be traced back to earlier myths, yet they survive. There are even still some cargo cults around.
Religions are very good at adapting. They are based on emotional hooks, not evidence. Therefore, evidence will not harm them much. They’ll just cherry-pick different verses and re-interpret others then claim that’s what they meant all along.

God created man in his image. So man (Adam) looked like God. God never said he made aliens in his image so I wouldn’t see a problem with that.

Why would finding sentient life out side of Earth effect any Christian doctrine? There is no scripture that states God didn’t create other life forms elsewhere. How will atheists react if the aliens come with white shirted,black tied missionaries?
